Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed September 22, 2026 · Target: WCAG 2.2 AA · IS 5568 · EN 301 549
This page describes how accessible OmeChat is, what we have done, what we have not managed yet, and how to reach a person who can help. A Hebrew version (הצהרת נגישות) follows at the end of the page.
1. Our commitment
OmeChat wants everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use OmeChat with dignity, equality and independence. We treat accessibility as an ongoing obligation, not a one-time project: it is part of our design reviews, our code reviews and our release checklist.
This statement is published in accordance with the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013 (Regulation 35), and follows the format recommended by the W3C for accessibility statements. It also serves as our public accessibility notice for users in the European Union (European Accessibility Act / EN 301 549), the United Kingdom (Equality Act 2010) and the United States (ADA Title III as applied to websites, Section 508 principles).
2. Standard and conformance level
The Service is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the W3C, which also satisfies Israeli Standard IS 5568 (based on WCAG 2.0 AA) and EN 301 549. Our current self-assessed status is partially conformant: most of the Service conforms, and the exceptions are listed in Section 5 together with the reason and the plan for each.
Conformance is assessed by manual testing with keyboard only, with screen readers (NVDA on Windows with Chrome and Firefox, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS with Safari, TalkBack on Android with Chrome), with browser zoom at 200 % and 400 %, with Windows High Contrast, with reduced-motion enabled, and with automated tools (axe-core and Lighthouse). The last full review was completed on September 22, 2026.
3. Accessibility features of the Service
| Keyboard | Every action, including starting and stopping a chat, skipping, sending gifts, buying coins and requesting a withdrawal, can be performed with the keyboard alone. A visible focus indicator is shown on every interactive element. A “Skip to main content” link is the first focusable element on every page. |
|---|---|
| Screen readers | Pages use semantic HTML landmarks, headings in logical order, labelled form fields, descriptive button names and ARIA live regions for status changes such as “searching”, “connected” and “gift received”. Decorative images and animations are hidden from assistive technology; meaningful images have text alternatives. |
| Language and direction | The Hebrew interface is marked lang="he" with right-to-left direction; English pages are marked lang="en" left-to-right, so screen readers pronounce each correctly. |
| Text and zoom | Text is real text (not images), resizes with browser zoom and text-size settings up to 400 % without loss of content, and the layout reflows on narrow screens. |
| Colour and contrast | Body text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio; large text and interface components meet 3:1. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed (icons and text accompany status colours). Light and dark themes are available. |
| Motion | Animations (floating gifts, celebrations, background loops) respect the operating-system “reduce motion” setting and are switched off or shortened when it is enabled. Nothing flashes more than three times per second. Background videos are muted and decorative. |
| Time limits | There is no time limit on reading or completing forms. The only timed element is the live chat itself, which the user controls. |
| Audio and video | Live video calls are peer-to-peer and cannot be captioned by us in real time; a text chat panel is always available alongside the video so that participants can communicate in writing. Camera and microphone can be muted independently. |
| Forms and errors | All fields have visible labels or accessible names, required fields are marked, errors are announced and described in text next to the field, and payments can be reviewed before confirmation. |
| Compatibility | The Service works with the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and with the assistive technologies listed in Section 2. |
4. Third-party content
Some parts of the experience are provided by third parties whose accessibility we do not control:
- PayPal checkout: the payment buttons and the PayPal window are provided by PayPal. PayPal publishes its own accessibility information.
- Google sign-in: the Google account window is provided by Google.
- Other users' video: the live camera feed of the person you are matched with is user-generated content created in real time. We cannot add captions, audio description or transcripts to it.
Where a third-party component is not accessible to you, contact us (Section 7) and we will help you complete the task another way, for example by processing a payment or a withdrawal for you.
5. Known limitations and exemptions
We are transparent about what does not yet fully conform. Each item has an owner and a target.
| Live video (WCAG 1.2.4 Captions – Live) | Real-time captions for peer-to-peer video between two strangers are not technically feasible for us to provide and would require recording or processing the call, which our privacy commitments prohibit. We claim this as an exemption under Regulation 35(g) (undue burden / technical infeasibility). Mitigation: the text chat panel is always available. |
|---|---|
| Animated gift artwork | Some celebration animations are decorative videos without a text description of the motion. They are hidden from screen readers and disabled under reduced-motion; the gift name and value are announced in text. |
| Colour contrast of small helper text | A few hints in very small grey text on dark backgrounds fall below 4.5:1. Target: fixed in the next release. |
| Administrative back-office | Staff-only pages are not covered by this statement. |
If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please tell us. We treat every report as a defect and aim to fix it or provide an equivalent alternative promptly.
6. Physical premises
OmeChat is an online-only service. We do not operate premises that are open to the public, so the provisions of the Regulations concerning physical accessibility of a place of business do not apply. Customer service is provided in writing through the channels below.
7. Feedback and accessibility coordinator
You can contact us about accessibility via our contact form (choose “Accessibility” as the subject). Please describe the problem, the page, and the browser and assistive technology you use.
We acknowledge accessibility feedback within 2 business days and aim to resolve reported barriers, or provide an accessible alternative, within 10 business days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Israeli Ministry of Justice, or, in the EU, UK or US, the relevant enforcement body in your country.
8. Enforcement procedure
Israel: complaints may be submitted to the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities (נציבות שוויון זכויות לאנשים עם מוגבלות), Ministry of Justice, Jerusalem; telephone *6763; website gov.il/mugbaluyot.
EU: each member state's market-surveillance authority under the European Accessibility Act. UK: the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). US: the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.
